not ever having had a root canal, i'll pass on the expressions of sympathy ... however, my wife has had several and prayers are in order for you - not the kind like when someone is dying, just that all goes well without too much discomfort ... after all, a little discomfort helps you know it was a worthwhile thing to have done.
Update on K: She is out west with her brother attending a wedding. K called me before her flight and said that the new dentist (aka, Our Hero) said no crown necessary, so she will be needing the tiara after all. This new dentist saved the tooth and the day, throwing in some cosmetic dental work for free. (He loves K's parents, also patients.)
i'd like to say "Your Welcome" for everyone else...as i can not relate such feelings from my person...as i was not present to wish you luck at the appropriate time.

good luck!
I wish you a dentist that doesn't try to make you talk with your mouth pried open, and no pain.
Good luck, Sarah! I hope your recovery is quick and, if possible, painless.
tell the dr. person to be gentle.
As a veteran of the dental wars, let me advise you: It's all about drugs. Nitrous oxide is wonderful.
Self hypnosis / thought control is also another very useful game to play with yourself.
Of course, with a truly skilled dentist, little of no drugs are necessary. A gentle touch goes a long ways.

Root canal? Nah, nuthin' to it. The worst trouble I have with that sort of thing is that my mouth doesn't open big enough.
You'll be fine.
So, did you survive?
I'm sure they successfully implanted the tracking device.. Uh.. I mean performed the root canal and added the crown.
