Women and Men

My brother and I were having a discussion on how relationships are defined between women and men. I asked, "When does a couple know that it is a couple?" Here was my brother's response:

"Men and women are like a tetherball apparatus; the man is the pole and the woman is the ball. A man can't keep track of the woman as she swings wildly around him. It's impossible for him to figure out what she's doing, thinking, or feeling. So he just stands there and waits and when she finally winds around to where she's touching him, then he knows they're a couple."

At which point we both howled with laughter.

Not a bad analogy. Though I wonder if to the woman it feels like the pole is whirling around her.

From my experience, no. I am the whirler not the whirlee. But I can't speak for all women.

i wish more women were the whirlers...
you broads is confussed.
seriously.
i can recall a "relationship" (if you can call it that) where even after the touching (and a year), i had no idea if we were a couple.

your brother is a smart man - if it was only that simple.

k-sra/ unless i conclude wrong, your response says - "I am the whirler not the whirlee." Does that not mean you are the 'pole'?

from my view, men and women are equally confusing, especially when neither knows what it is they want, or rather they realize their 'want' may constantly be changing.

honestus, I meant that I am the ball, ever whilring, and where she stops nobody knows. You are of course correct in assuming that there are plenty men and women who are out there twirling on the end of a decision without a clue as to what they really want. This analogy was mostly just for amusement.

I never analogize as funny as I can.

Back in my tetherball days, I'd often completely miss that there was a game going on and only take notice when either the tether broke or the ball smacked me in the back of the head.

well said Steve. I do say though, i'd prefer the smack on the head opposed to not knowing and being left to wonder later.

LMAO! I went really visual on that and it's too funny. Except the guys that don't want relationships just keep ducking as the ball comes round...whoooopss...there we go...

Haha! Temple, I know exactly what you mean. I guess that's what keeps women at the end of their tether. So to speak. : )
