Four Minutes

I beat my own record this morning for rolling out of bed and getting into my car. Four minutes. A clean two minutes shaved off my old record. This is why I oversleep: I can get ready in four minutes and still get to work early. I have a punctuality disease which does not allow me to arrive late. I looked at my clock, sized up the time I had to get to work and get a parking spot and four minutes later I was pulling out of the driveway.

Now I'm curious if I can make it three minutes...

Today is Thursday like Friday because we are given tomorrow off in anticipation of New Year's. WooHoo. Happy Newish Year's to all of you (who may still read this blog. I know I don't...)

Carol Counting Contest

Name as many Christmas Carols as you can. (That means songs about the nativity of the Christ Child, not songs about Santa, Reindeer, Grinches, Elves, Shopping, Sleighbells, etc)

Write 'em on a separate sheet of paper first and then enter them into the comments section. Who can come up with the most!

Winner gets the Christmas song of their choice sung full volume under the next snow fall in beautiful Cleveland, Ohio.

Vitamin C not for me?

I am not sure if this is even possible, but I've noticed I get a rash every time I get a cold and take large amounts of Vitamin C.

Coincidence? The internet thinks not.

Cold Eeze and the Smells We Love

I better get my smell back after this cold dies down!

Uncle Funk Hits the Internet

My Uncle Fred (in the cart) has been a musician and singer in Utah for years now. He sings gigs about town, mostly with a fellow named Dave Hahn (my adopted Uncle, pushing the cart) and I just found out their latest video is airing on the interweb. I'm so proud!

Squirrel Nests

Are called Dreys and I think they might be about the coolest things ever! The squirrels around where I work will hover just outside their dreys and chatter at you as you walk by. Because obviously you are about to try to steal all their nuts. They sound like really squeaky, bad car engines.

Three Friends In A Building Game

This game is helping me through a rough patch. It may be the pretty spinning balls or the little sliding doors or more likely the soothing music. Whatever it is, I have wasted time playing this game and if you are so inclined, you may, too. (Warning, mildly addictive)

The Longest Day

Now that we are in winter here in Cleveland, I begin wondering when I'll see the sun again and this gets me thinking about how even though these days have been some of the most hellishly long days of my life (for personal reasons) according to the sun, they are also the shortest days of the year. So, when's the longest and shortest days again for dear, old Cleveland? They change annually, but we'll go with most recent. Here they are:

Longest ~ June 21, 2006
Shortest ~ December 22, 2006

Technically these are called Summer and Winter Solstice (and I can't help noting the latter falls on my Mother's Birthday!).

I think countries up at the poles have the longest recorded spans of sunlight and darkness, but I have no idea what they are and frankly I don't care. But someone (I'm not going to guess who, but) someone will find these crucial pieces of information for me so I don't have to lift a mouse finger. I know it!

What I Did Last Night

It was loud, and extremely bright and flashy, and overkill, and bright, and loud and flashy. I had to travel 2 and a half hours each way. I got home at 2AM. My ears are still ringing. My eyes are bloodshot. And I loved it!

Christmas comes but once a year and with it comes The Transiberian Orchestra.

(One of my favorite YouTube videos is still this guy's house.)

Spittle

At what temperature does spittle freeze as it flies through the air to the ground from a height of twenty feet? This question is not important scientifically. Nor will it (probably) ever matter in our lifetimes (although there could be an instance in which someone will need to hit a target across a freezing torture chamber of spit/ice that will release a secret lever and allow one of my blog readers to escape with their life and consequently save the life of countless others... although I doubt it). However, let the geniuses of the internet sort out the details. Spit first, ask questions later.
