Pavarotti No More

My favorite tenor died this morning. Here he is singing Nessun Dorma. What a voice!

Carol Counting Contest

Name as many Christmas Carols as you can. (That means songs about the nativity of the Christ Child, not songs about Santa, Reindeer, Grinches, Elves, Shopping, Sleighbells, etc)

Write 'em on a separate sheet of paper first and then enter them into the comments section. Who can come up with the most!

Winner gets the Christmas song of their choice sung full volume under the next snow fall in beautiful Cleveland, Ohio.

Uncle Funk Hits the Internet

My Uncle Fred (in the cart) has been a musician and singer in Utah for years now. He sings gigs about town, mostly with a fellow named Dave Hahn (my adopted Uncle, pushing the cart) and I just found out their latest video is airing on the interweb. I'm so proud!

What I Did Last Night

It was loud, and extremely bright and flashy, and overkill, and bright, and loud and flashy. I had to travel 2 and a half hours each way. I got home at 2AM. My ears are still ringing. My eyes are bloodshot. And I loved it!

Christmas comes but once a year and with it comes The Transiberian Orchestra.

(One of my favorite YouTube videos is still this guy's house.)

Song From The Cubicle

Tired of being ignored in your 2 meter squared domain? Here's a song about the woes of cubicle life. And after you've listened to it you can imagine you have the fabulous cubicle Scott Adams created. It'll be like a little cubicle get-away as you continue surfing the web and ignoring your job.

Ugly-@ss Album Cover Competition

Recent ones only for this competition. Antiques (Joyce, you know who you are) need not apply. Let's say, for the sake of rule-keepers, last ten years. Go to, kids. Best one wins a lifetime of smug satisfaction. My entry here (although not eligible for prizes) is the ugly-@ss cover of Ben Arthur's Edible Darling.

Hum a little ditty

Tuesdays, you know, once they start, they just don't stop till it's Saturday or something. So far mine has included two long-distance errands, informing someone they will probably be deported and learning that the handsome flirt from England was detained in his home country because of HIV. What a day. Here's a song you can put on in the background of your workstation and replay (and replay and replay). It's on loop in fact, but it took me four minutes to figure that out. Those clever Japanese!

How have you all been?

Music Appreciation Moment

You know, I'm not one to blather on about music on the web. It doesn't usually occur to me to talk about what I'm listening to, but just now a song came on that I needed to applaud.

Gladys Knight and Pips singing I Heard It Through The Grapevine. Have you heard this version? It's got so much soul, class and funk. I think I need to listen to it again. I used to think Marvin Gaye's version was the best seeing as how it was the biggest hit, but I take that back now. It's Gladys all the way. You go, Girl!
