Raksha Bandhan

Raksha Bandhan is on the 9th of August this year. Sister's Day is the 5th of August. I will try to send out as many rakhi to as many of you (men, women, boys and girls) as I can, who ask for one and supply me with an address.

Happy Brother/Sister Day!

Happy Rakhi!

There is an upcoming Indian holiday called Raksha Bandhan. On this day, sisters take brightly colored or beaded laces or bracelets and tie one onto their brother(s) wrist(s) in a show of respect. The brother who receives a rakhi, as they are called, is compelled by this reminder to protect and care for his sister and offers a token gift in return. The purpose of this holiday is to strengthen the bond between siblings of the opposite sex. This year Raksha Bandhan falls on August 19th.

I have two brothers by birth and two by marriage. All four are wonderful men whom I am proud to call family. I will be offering rakhi to them this year as a token of my esteem (provided I can find the rakhi. Cleveland isn't the most international place!) And, in fact, I would like to offer rakhi to all of my male readers (I'm not afraid of sending them overseas, either). Send me an address via email and I will send one out to any and all of my blog "brothers." I adopt you all!

Ruling the School

Well, looky looky who decided to come barreling onto the Information Superhighway with yet another savvy, insightful and politically incorrect blog!

My very own brother, Mymo.

[Big round of applause followed by glad-handing and pats on the back]

Welcome back, Mymo!

Two Siblings

Ah, behold the power of persuasion and a total lack of common sense! Here I sit in a basement on the other side of town from my dwelling at nine in the morning blogging what will seem to me after a good morning's sleep, a total and complete waste of time.

Scratch that. Not a complete waste. Not at all. Very poor quality, but still worth the bother.

My brother Joel and I have made a short film!

That may be the only type of project that can keep me up all night. We started at 3:00 yesterday afternoon and have not ceased to work on it until say twenty minutes ago.

I am so tired I can't even poke fun at myself or at my readers. I am too tired to make any nonsensical, paradoxical or otherwise interesting anecdotes about the project. Tired... sleepy tired

So, enjoy, and take care and... (fails at wit) ok, bye.

I woke up late this morning... Posted by Hello

My brother tells me that Willliam Tell and his family were avid bowlers. I expressed surprise and asked if he could refer me to a reliable link. To which he replied, "The records were destroyed by fire. Sadly, we'll never know for whom the Tells bowled."

I arrived safely in Indiana last night, where the mosquitos are friendly and the light is rarified. My brother dumped two gallons of bleach in his water tank to kill any unwanted heebie-geebies. The unfortunate side effect of which is that we will all lose our fingerprints by Friday. At which point we will be free to commit crimes with impunity. I'm gonna start my crime spree with some cow-tipping and then move on to some crop circles.

A few reassuring facts about leeches: there are three types, two of which make an incision in their host and one which swallows its victims whole (don't worry it only goes for invertabrates). I figured this was important information to have on hand now since leeches have become FDA approved medicines.

I'm going to Indiana for a week (the former mean center of the US), but I will surely continue my blogging habits while I am there. I keep a brother, a nephew, a cat, and a dog there, so they might keep me busy. Feel free to make more song requests. I'm sure we can come up with a fabo rendition of whatever you want to hear.

Pandora, today's random kitty. (See more pictures here.)

Spencer Tunick came to Cleveland and some two thousand people took off their clothes.

Favorite Lyric of the day:
"I'll do as I'll decide and let it ride until I've died
And only then shall I abide this tide
Of catchy little tunes
Of hip three minute ditties
I wanna bust all your balloons
I wanna burn all of your cities to the ground"

This is a Japanese website of bunny breeds, apparently. I am blogging it for my brother. I'm not even sure he still enjoys rabbits. The only two rabbits he ever had killed each other. In any case, the link is here because he told me he was reading my blog.

This is a Japanese actor working on a role for a movie. Man, I love that actor. I love that director, too. Seven guesses who these people are and what film they're working on.

Random photo of the day.
